Easter Fun

 Hello All
Happy Easter!!!
In the week leading up to Easter we had to do a lot of preparation.  Sophia is such a great help with chores. We involve her every chance we get even if it takes us twice as long to complete the chore. She loves being around us and getting right into the task. When I vacuum the floors she holds the cord which makes it difficult to go more that 5 feet in any direction. And when I mop she likes to test the water in the bucket to make sure it is still warm. Needless to say, I usually try to complete these two tasks when she is having a snack or is occupied with a great toy. Here are the tasks we completed to get ready for our first Easter Party.

She is helping Jason to change the batteries in her drill. She has so much patience for small tasks like this.

She watches me put on make up almost every morning. On this morning she was pretending to put her make up on too.

There was no prompting from me on this one. I didn't want to tell her that eye shadow really shouldn't go on the lips. But who knows maybe this is a new thing I don't know yet.

Sophia likes to do crafts. So when I do something a little bit difficult or really messy she likes to color on the floor.

Concentrating on her work.

Crafters hands.

Our area when we were done. This is why we do these things when Daddy isn't home. It gets a bit messy.

We did some Easter visiting this week. We went to see our friends Nicci, Lisa and Anita. Sophia likes Anita and would sit with her especially when she had food. In this case Sophia is getting her first taste of red velvet cake.

On Thursday when both Jason and I were home, we had business stuff to do that required both of us to be there which is why we chose Thursday to get through everything. It was a long day for all of us but we got a lot done. The first thing was to take Jason's truck in for an oil change then to our accountant and finally to the long line up to get Sophia a passport. When we were at the accountants office, Sophia just wanted to play on the floor. She didn't want to sit at the table with us at all. Then I saw why...

"Lets see what is interesting to play with in mommy's wallet."

"Oh MOM, ummm is this your purse? I had no idea. It looks just like mine. "

"ok you caught me. I'm looking for money to buy candy"

She loves the apron and tape measure she got from a nice man at Home Depot.

We  were planning on using the barbeque for our party so she had to help shovel the deck. She loved helping daddy and was chatting with him the whole time.

Then she came in and I put her to work taking out the Easter eggs.

She unloaded the Organic Box when it arrived...she 'sorted' it all on the floor then walked away.

Saturday morning we dyed our Easter eggs. It was a bit messy but it was fun. Cool trick I learned was to put the egg in a whisk then she can hold on to it without getting her little hands in the dye and that little cheap wire they always include in the package is totally useless. The whisk worked really well but got very messy when Sophia started stirring the egg in the dye.

PARTY TIME!!
Saturday afternoon we had 11 adults and 7 kids at our house for our party. It was casual and fun. We did a small egg hunt with the kids in the basement. Sophia didn't quite get the idea of the hunt as she would pick up the egg then put it back.
Playing outside at the party with spray bottle filled with colored water.
Uncle Aaron and Robbie.

A little dinner music with Abbie.

Payton came to join the festivities but didn't like the bunny ears.

Uncle Adam, Auntie Shannon and Marek came and tried to help us eat all the mini eggs...they failed because we still have a lot left.

"Marek, push me"

Saturday was really fun and Sunday morning was great too. We got a letter from the Easter Bunny late Saturday night that he was hiding eggs around for Sophia. There is an Easter Egg Hunt in the neighborhood every year and this year was Sophia's first year to participate. She was so excited and carried he bucket around filling it with her own toys all morning until the hunt started at 9:30. All the kids meet for a picture and then the hunt begins.

Sophia has her game face on. "I'm ready just give me the word"

GO!! Sophia caught on after she picked up the first egg and I put it in her bucket. She knew exactly what to do. "I've been training for this my whole life"
These kids are all so great. They collected their eggs and then helped Sophia get her number of eggs. They didn't give up looking until everyone had their number of eggs.
Sophia really took to our neighbor Jordyn. Sophia cried when it was time to go inside.

We stayed and played with the kids and Sophia had no interest in us anymore. It was good to see that she was comfortable around other kids she doesn't really know.

HUGE sidewalk chalk.

This was their masterpiece.

"Hanging with my girls"
"Hey these girls play with tools too. I love my new friends"

"Sun on my face...I'm happy."
All that was left of her eggs. Just the shells, ready to be filled again next year.

"So when can we start mowing the lawn?"
We hope you all had a great Easter too. :)

Going Green

Our week started with a visit from Iris. Iris loves to feed Sophia and I love it too because Sophia will eat foods that she normally won't eat for me. I love this picture because Iris has her mouth open which is exactly like I see other people, including myself, do when feeding a baby.
We went to the library again this week. In this picture Sophia is leaving the scene of a crime after knocking down the books.
I was trying to find books about canning and preserving as well as organic gardening. I knew exactly where to go as I looked it up before going to the library. I knew the girls will only wait for a few minutes before they go stir crazy. I asked Iris to babysit Sophia for me while I grabbed the books from the shelf. She walked Sophia up and down the isle. It was cute...but I don't know if the people trying to study found it as cute as I did.

When we got home we found an early visit from a Leprechaun. I found a recipe for Leprechaun rocks on Pinterest and thought I would try it. Iris loved it and it was cool to see the water foam and turn green. Sophia just liked the water part and started splashing in it.

The best part of the day for us, me included, is when Jason comes home. The girls get so excited and no matter how tired he is he keeps them occupied while I clean up and get baths ready.

Ok some of you know I went bathing suit shopping by myself on Saturday. I really don't like shopping for myself but I really needed a new suit for Sophia's swimming lessons coming up. Sophia took it out of the bag as soon as I got home and she put it on herself and wore it for a while around the house. I think she was pretending to be me with the stroller too. It was so funny.

These next few pictures are what happens when I am at work and Jason is in charge...
she NEVER plays with toilet paper when I'm in charge...;)

She is trying to close him out of the bathroom.

boxes are the best toys. She has been playing with this one for a week now.

Happy St. Patrick's Day
