Love the outdoors

Sophia turned 5 months old on Monday!!! Time goes so fast. Tuesday was very rainy so we stayed home...we both hate staying home. So Wednesday we went with Grandma Yvonne to Southgate mall just to get out of the house.
Thursday we visited grandpa Brian. He smiled at Sophia. It was a nice visit.
Friday was such a beautiful day so we walked to grandma's house to have coffee with her and a friend of hers that was visiting from BC. We walked a total of 12 km on Friday. It was such a nice walk on the paths in Sherwood Park. Sophia slept the whole time and sleeps very well at night because of the fresh air. She is definitely and outdoors girl which is great.

On Satuday cousin Iris came over for a couple hours in the morning. We all walked to the park and played, we also saw geese and their babies and lots of pelicans. Sophia doesn't really care about that stuff yet but Iris kept asking if she could pet every animal we saw. We had a lesson in wild vs tame animals. ;)
Saturday afternoon we went to a good friends birthday party on their farm. Sophia had a great time as long as no one else held her except us. She gets so funny sometimes then other times she is just fine . Anyway, Sophia got to sit around her first camp fire. She loved it!! We can't wait for another camping week in July. Today (Sunday) she had her first Tbsp of a rice cereal. She didn't seem to care that it was the first time she was eating with a spoon. She just wanted to chew on the spoon. No teeth yet and no she hasn't rolled over by herself. She is so close its hard for me not to just give her a small tap to help her along. She is doing very well.

Enjoy the pics from the week.

Just loves to laugh :)

A Family Forever

A week and a half ago we received the letter we have been waiting for. The letter from the judge arrived approving us as a family and that Sophia is forever ours. We both cried as she slept in the back seat of Jason's truck unaware that this day will forever be remembered by us. We are thrilled and so thankful to have such wonderful families who have fully embraced Sophia as their own and birth families who have welcomed us in to their lives. We see everyday how blessed we are that our family has grown not only in our home but in our hearts.
We love you our Baby Sophia

Not flesh of my flesh
nor bone of my bone
but still miraculously my own
Never for get for a single minute
you didn't grow under my heart
but in it.

Camping- Round 1

we have a few weeks of camping planned this summer and it will be great with the new trailer. All week we have been packing and baking for our little trip (as things take much longer with little Sophia) out to Nana and Papa's acreage for the weekend. We wanted to try out the trailer before taking it on the road.

But we are getting ahead of ourselves here. So Lets get back to the beginning of the week:
Sunday was my first Mother's Day. It was wonderful. Jason and Sophia really made me feel special by making me breakfast then taking me to the greenhouse to buy flowers and plants for the yard. Spending that time together planting the flowers and putting in the garden made for a perfect Mother's Day.

Monday we welcomed Sophia's new cousin Meg to the world yay!! Now we have a place for Sophia's clothes that she has outgrown. ;)
We were finally able to register for Sophia's birth certificate so I did that on Monday which was nice to check that off the list.
Tuesday was packing for camping.
Wednesday cousin Iris came over and the three of us planted sunflowers and sweet peas in the yard. I thought those flowers were very appropriate to plant with my favorite girls :)
Thursday we had a greasy breakfast at Denny's then headed out to our camp site for the weekend. Sophia and I unpacked everything for the inside of the trailer while Jason  had to figure out all the power and plumbing on the outside. We had such a great weekend with my awesome parents and cousin Kainan. Sophia enjoyed herself too. She loves the fresh air and walks in the yard. The fresh air was making her sleep through the night which was a huge bonus for us. We are all set for our big trip in July.
Saturday was a noteworthy day as Sophia learned a new trick. While changing her diaper mom and I noticed her playing with her feet which she had done before but this time those toes went right in to her mouth. We took pictures before she noticed ;)
Sunday we sadly packed up and came home :(
Today is Sophia's 5th month in this wonderful world. Its hard to believe its been five months already. We took her for a walk in her new seat on her stroller which she helped Daddy install.
We also took a basket picture as always. I will put it here for you to enjoy but I will also add it to the other post called Basket Pics so you can see how she has grown.

have a great week family and enjoy the pictures from the week

all set up and relaxing with Daddy

she has a new fascination with bottles and any other object we let her have

"what are you looking at?"

"I am guarding Daddy's water bottle for him"

"Do you want a sip of water?"

"you can't have it cause I licked the bottle"

Putting your foot in your mouth is cute when your a baby but has a whole different meaning as an adult.

Gabbing,Graduation and Gardening

(warning- Sophia is insisting on helping with this weeks blog so if there are any mistakes or strange things , its because she is adding her input)
Whew we made it threw a busy week. First Monday was such a beautiful day that Sophia, Sidney and I spent the day outside taking out all of the summer stuff and enjoying the weather without the wind.
Sophia and I were asked if we would come to the high school and talk to the Social Work class about adoption. The cool thing was that I also gave the teacher the name of our case worker (Kelly) from Adoption Options. Kelly went in the day before we did and talked abut adoption from her point of view. Then on Tuesday Sophia and I went in. we were a hit, well Sophia was lol I loved being in front of the class again and loved it even more that Sophia was there talking and starring at me when she gave me a turn to speak. It was great to share our adoption story. Thanks to Christian and Kendal for their input for the presentation.
Thursday was a great day as we made our way to Ponoka for Christian and Kendal's grad commencement.  we had dinner with Kendals family and Kokum then went to the school for the ceremony. Poor Sophia refused to nap between events so she was super tired by the end of the evening. The cool thing was that we got to meet more members of each family. We only wished we could have spent more time with them. We will have to plan a visit to meet Great Kokum  and Great Grandma again.
Friday was a recovery day. Saturday Jason worked but after he picked up a truck load of fertilizer fo our garden. On Sunday we planted our garden. I know its before the long weekend but the seeds should be just fine. I had a great Mother's Day with Jason and Sophia. They made me breakfast then we went shopping for plants at the nice greenhouse that I love but don't allow myself to go there. In the afternoon we enjoyed a cold drink on our deck while Sophia napped in my arms. Great Day!!!
Enjoy the pics
