Two posts in one day WOW you are so lucky ;)

Here are some pictures of how Sophia has grown. I stole the basket idea but I love how it shows how she has grow.
8 days old

Three weeks old. Sidney just loves her:)

Eight weeks old...wow she is huge!!  I think she was wondering where Sidney was. ;)

Sophia just loves hosting parties and she hosted a lunch on Thursday with Christian, Kendal, Auntie Morgan, Grandma Trudy and Grandpa Ken. It was a great visit and she was on her best behavior the whole time. Kendal even bravely changed her first diaper. Sophia was very patient like she was when we were first learning about her...now Sophia just cries if we are fussing too much and not going fast enough.

Friday I was sick and Sophia and I camped out on the couch all day which is exactly what we are doing today too. I hope she doesn't get this cold. Last night Daddy got up with her during the night so I could get some sleep. Well, Sophia saw Daddy and thought it was party time. She didn't go back to sleep for 2.5 hours (normally it takes her 30-45 mins). I was up anyway with this not being able to breathe thing so I helped put her asleep. Once she saw Mommy she knew it was business time and drifted off quickly. :) She is so smart.

Second Doctor's Visit

Today was the second time Sophia saw our Doctor. He is such a great man and just has a soft spot for Sophia. He has been with us through all of our struggles and I think this adoption means as much to him as it does to us....in fact that is one thing that I have noticed. This little girl has not only affected our lives and our family but so many other people (even ones we didn't know that well) have been giving gifts and cards and have expressed their happiness for us and for her. We have probably been given more things than if we were to have our own biological children. She is a blessing. :)

Anyway, back to the doctor. Our first visit didn't go that well. I didn't take her diaper bag into the office as I had just changed her and thought I would be safe...bad idea. We were still in with the nurse being weighted and Sophia decided that now was a good time to make a huge mess in her pants. Well, I felt like a bad mom because I didn't bring her bag in and had to leave her with the nurse so I could run out passed all of the patients in the waiting room (who had just finished complimenting me on how good she was) to get her bag. The mess was so bad that I had used up all of the wipes in the bag and had to ask the nurse for paper towel to get cleaned up. Yup leave it to Sophia and I to make an impression on the staff.

This visit I was very prepared and good thing I was because although I had just fed her she was (surprise, surprise) hungry again LOL. She is so funny. Our doctor asked if he should go to see another patient so I could have time to feed her. Of course I said yes.

She is doing really well and is now 23 INCHES and 9 LBS 9 OZ. WOW!!!

The only thing we touched on was her totally switching to a soy product although she did well with the combination at first, and her allergy to strong scents.

Now we are just waiting for our weekly visit from her cousin and preparing to see her maternal birth family tomorrow.
Good Day!!!

A Few of Her Favorite Things

She likes to swing...there is a mirror at the top for her to watch which keeps her entertained.

She loves being carried around while I cook. She doesn't like the Snuggly yet but loves this kangaroo wrap.

Sophia loves mirrors

She likes chewing ans slobbering on my shoulders.

We just cant get enough of those beautiful eyes.

She also likes the back of this quilt she was given. She likes anything simple and in black and white.

Happy Family Day

Today Sophia had a bath and got all dressed up to entertain Daddy's side of the family. We made brunch for Grandma Yvonne, Uncle Charles and cousin Abbie, Uncle Harry and Daniel. Sophia slept for most of the visit as it was during her morning nap but she did wake up enough to show off her beautiful eyes.
She is starting to smile a little at random but if your the lucky one who is holding her at the time it makes you feel really special. :)

Uncle Harry promising to show her how to fish, build things and use power tools.

Sometimes Sophia doesn't know what she wants.
We have found out that she really reacts to scents so strong perfumes and colognes and even laundry soap make her break out in a rash on her face. She is getting over baby acne but smells flare it all up. We will know more after we visit her doctor again this week.

I wanted to start this blog for Sophia so you can see what she is up to and get regular updates on how she is doing. I will try to post once a week and more if she is doing exciting things.

This past week Sophia and I started attending our Mom's Group on Thursday mornings. It runs for the next 6 weeks and is a great way to get out and meet new mom's. Sophia also enjoys regular walks with her friend Payton who was born January 1st and is also adopted. This is a great support for us to be friends with another family blessed with an adopted child. We have also been walking with another teacher friend of mine and her 6 month old son Tyler who has loaned Sophia a swing.

Her cousin Iris comes over every Wednesday afternoon and stays until about 9:00. Iris is a great help with Sophia. She likes to sing to her, draw pictures for her and helps to feed her.

I weighed her on Thursday and she was 9 lbs and 3/4 ounce.

Sophia is sleeping well. Her longest stretch at 5 hours is first thing at night. Then she is up around 2 and every 2 hours after that. She is eating very well, loves water and baths and loves looking at mirrors.

Today it is snowing heavily here at home, so we are being lazy and watching movies.
