Kleenex and Colds

All three of us have been sick for a week or so now. I think we all got run down while Sophia was sick with measles. We are going through a lot of Kleenex and Vicks enough that we are thinking of buying shares.
Sophia has turned 11 months....wow does it ever go fast. We will be celebrating her birthday in less than a week...wow we have a lot to do.

We are excited to have cousin Iris over every Tuesday again for a while. Sophia and Iris act like sisters. Sophia follows Iris everywhere and wants all the toys Iris is playing with. Iris follows me around saying "Baby Sophia wants...". She is a good advocate for Sophia :)
This past Tuesday we tried to do crafts but seriously I couldn't even attempt to do anything with both of them. I would just get the packages of sticks and pipe cleaners open and Sophia would be throwing them on the floor and putting them in her mouth and Iris was wanting me to open every thing. Then once we were all set Iris said "I want to go play outside". So we abandoned the crafts and got Sophia all dressed up in her snowsuit for the first time and went to play in the snow. Sophia was a great sport because all she could really do was sit or lay down while being bundled up. But since Iris was doing stuff it allowed her some good observing time. We only lasted about 20 mins in total because Sophia was looking a little bored and chilly (ok it was me who was chilly. I was the only one without a snowsuit on).So we went in and had hot chocolate...well I had hot chocolate, Iris had soggy marshmallows and left the hot chocolate part. It is definitely fun and entertaining having a 3 year old and an 11 month old around the house.

We have also been setting up for Sophia's birthday party and for Christmas. Enjoy the pics

Helping daddy to plug in all the lights

Tired after all the holiday decorating. (this was not posed, she actually laid down and stayed there for a while)

I bought her this stroller for $4. Great buy and she loves it. I was trying to get her something she can practice walking with. She fills it with her toys and any 'treasures' she finds that day then pushes it around.

Getting bundled up to play in the snow

She couldn't move so she was just laying there waiting patiently for me to get ready

Practicing walking...she looks so much older in this picture

So Much Fun

On Halloween morning Sophia woke up with a fever and was not herself. We stayed home and didn't take her out trick or treating to friends' houses.
She had been a bit grouchy on the Monday and Tuesday but we thought maybe she was teething. She had the fever for three days and wasn't eating a lot but still drinking which was good. The fever was borderline "seek medical attention". She was up at night and just wanting to be with us which meant we weren't sleeping either. On the Friday after no sleep we decided to take her right to the Stollery at 3:00 am as we weren't getting any sleep anyway. She had a bad cough and was rattling when she was breathing as well so we were concerned maybe she was getting fluid in her lungs or there is always the fear of meningitis. At the Stollery they checked her for both of those things and found her lungs to be clear and no signs of meningitis. We were happy and ready to go home but they told us she had an elevated heart rate and wanted to monitor her. They brought her fever down with Advil so they could see what her heart would do. Thankfully her heart rate went down as well.  At that point they gave us things to watch for and told us to come back if anything else happened. So we were relieved and tired and went home.

We all crashed for the morning which was needed. She still had her fever but it went down rapidly as the day went on. On the Sunday night as I was bathing her, I noticed a rash all over her back and front. I got nervous all over again because I thought we were in the clear. Jason on the other hand gets his doctor hat on and calmly figures things out. He diagnosed it as roseola (baby measles). On the Monday she had her regular doctor appointment with her awesome medical doctor who loves her and she just loves him too. He confirmed Jason's thoughts and said it would be fine. The rash has cleared up and other than a runny nose and a bit stuffed up she is totally healthy and very active again. Look out Sydney  :)
She now weights 18 lbs and is 30 inches tall!! Very healthy girl.
With Payton on Halloween...not feeling so good.

Sophia's favorite foods have expanded to raspberries, pakoras and home made mac and cheese. She likes stronger flavors which is great.

We have been staying in because of the snow and cold but have had a few outings. We went to Iris's birthday party. Sophia fell asleep and we had to wake her up to go to the party so she was a bit off and dazed the entire time until we got home. Then she was smiling and chatting all evening.

Papa gave us box seats to the rodeo which we look forward to every year. Sophia loved the rodeo. We weren't sure how she would do with the noise but she just loved every minute of it and didn't want it to end. She watched the monitor for a while before realizing the horses were below us. She stared, clapped smiled and had a great time. It was so fun to see her experience that for the first time. THANKS PAPA.
